Why EcoSecurities says the Middle East is the Carbon Trading Sector’s rising Giant.

The Middle East was slow to cash in on cutting emissions but that is now changing. Investors, including state-owned funds, now see the potential in the carbon markets.

In fact, according to EcoSecurities’ projections, the Middle East has a potential to generate $5bn a year from the carbon trading market, making up a significant proportion of the global carbon markets.

In fact, Mr. Abboud said, The average oil & gas project has the potential to generate an average of a million CERs per annum, as opposed to an average biogas or renewable energy project that can generate between a 100 to 200 CERs per annum. It’s a no-brainer. The size of the potential (for the Middle East) is enormous!

But the Middle East’s carbon markets are still at an early stage of development, and despite attracting a lot of interests from investors and governments, the region will only fully unlock its potential over the next few years, and will depend on regulatory changes and developments in the carbon markets.

What you will learn about unlocking the GCC’s Carbon Markets.

At the Carbon World Interview, Mr. Abboud & Dr. Moussa address regulatory updates, investment outlook, the region’s commitment to addressing environmental issues, and the fallout for the global economic downturn in the development of the sector,
